About UWS Institute

The Underwater Skills program has been training professional divers for the Canadian and worldwide industry since 1974.

 

In the Spring of 2023, Seneca College pivoted to become Seneca Polytechnic, with their focus changing to longer duration and degree crossover programs. It was decided the UWS program no longer fit within this bold new vision and restructure framework. The program operating under the Seneca banner was cancelled. The outcry from the industry was immense. Canada needs divers, and the loss of the program sent ripples throughout the industry.

 

The team in the UWS department spent months negotiating with Seneca, and a deal was reached. With tremendous support from Seneca, the staff from the UWS Department have formed The Underwaters Skills Institute. The same instructors, the same equipment, and the same quality in diver education, in a leaner more dynamic model.

 

We strive to continue to lead the industry in Professional Diver training, from entry level, to Supervisor and everything in between.
